ALL OF THESE THINGS ARE NOT LIKE THE OTHERS

Many paintings of David Salle consist of elements that have their own narrative and medium, irreconcilable with one another. This is a departure from cubist collage in which fragments overlap producing parts. This thesis seeks to create in architecture a condition analogous to that found in the Salle paintings. It employs a set of objects which each contain their own logic and sensibility. These objects are nested to place them in relation to one another while allowing each to maintain its autonomy.
The Russian nesting doll, gives a proportional offset to each nested figure. This thesis allows each nested object to be wildly independent from the next. Through this, the intention is to allow every object to remain autonomous from the one preceding it.
