CODY MINER / SEMIFIRM

Heads up!

Using all local materials and relying on the skill of local craftspeople, this central pavilion for the Wonderfrui Festival provides both an identifiable architectural object - The Head - as well as a more open flexible space fo hosting events, gatherings, and exhibitions. It presents  striking design that promotes ethical and local values in surprising ways. The design is all made of a single form oriented in different directions and at different scales, nesting playfully together. Formally, the language refers to primitive monumental stones and gigantic abstract heads. They act to reproduce the mythology of communal objects of interest - and the sacredness of those objects - that act to organize gatherings of people, of communities around them, whether those communities last for thousands of years or one really great week.
