VPAC Wall

With Zago Architecture for the Chicago Architecture Bienalle 2017.

Project Team:

For the Chicago Architecture Biennial, Zago Architecture presented the project for a Visual and Performing Art Center at the Universit y of Illinois at Chicago, completed the conceptual design for this project in 2015. Its main display being the facade mockup, consisting of 297 colored aluminum panels arranged 3 layers deep. Each panel is approximately 22 x 60 inches. The overall piece is mounted to the wall on steel brackets, measures approximately 28 x 48 feet and projects out from the wall about a foot . The facade is an outgrowth of a series of studies on tectonic approaches to atmospheric color effects , a thing easily achieved in painting but notoriously difficult in buildings.
